San Pietro is an island of volcanic formation in the archipelago of Sulcis. Surrounded by clear waters, Carloforte is visited by tourists looking for a spot of unspoiled nature. Its sea ground attracts scuba divers from all over the world.
The most visited site on the island is the LIPU reserve (LIPU is the Italian foundation for the preservation of birds) on the west side of the island covering more than 6 km of coast; its rocky cliff has creeks such as the well known Cala Vinagra and Cala Fico.
Tunny-fishing is typical of Carloforte: we organise scuba diving amidst the tunny fish from May to the beginning of June. You can also visit the tunny factory built in 1800 and watch the tunny fishing called “Mattanza”. We also organise boat excursions + snorkelling.
